Mu Ko Ang Thong is a marine national park located in the Gulf of Thailand within Surat Thani Province. It includes 42 islands and covers an area of about 102 square kilometers (39 square miles), with approximately 50 square kilometers (19 square miles) of land and the remaining area as water. The park was created on November 12, 1980.

The park was created on November 12, 1980. The northern end of Ko Phaluai is also part of the marine park. Ao Phi Beach on Ko Wua Talap has a ranger station, bungalows, a shop, and a restaurant.

The name "Ang Thong" (Thai: อ่างทอง) means "bowl of gold." "Mu Ko" (Thai: หมู่เกาะ) means "group of islands."

Since 2002, the park has been officially registered as Ramsar site number 1184.

Topography

Mu Ko Ang Thong is a national park found in shallow waters close to the coast. The water there is usually about 10 meters (33 feet) deep.
