The Península de Paria National Park, also known as Parque nacional Península de Paria in Spanish, is a national park located on the Paria Peninsula in Venezuela.
Geography
The park is located between the Gulf of Paria and the Caribbean Sea in eastern Sucre state, within the districts of Arismendi, Mariño, and Valdez. It was created on December 12, 1978, and the declaration was published in Official Gazette No. 2417 on March 7, 1979. The park was established to protect the unique peninsula section of the Venezuelan Coastal Range, which is home to plants and animals found only in the Venezuelan Guiana.
The main rivers that start within the range inside the park are the Macuro, Yacua, Río Oscuro, Río Grande, El Mapire, and Ceiba. These rivers flow into the Gulf of Paria, which is located south of the park and the peninsula.
