Skeleton Coast National Park is a protected area in northwest Namibia. It is known for its difficult-to-reach shoreline, which has many shipwrecks. The park was created in 1971 and covers an area of 16,845 square kilometers (6,504 square miles). The park is split into two parts: northern and southern. The southern section allows vehicles with four wheels to travel north as far as the Ugab River Gate, where a sign showing a skull and crossbones warns visitors not to go beyond that point. The northern section can only be reached by air travel, and no vehicles are permitted there.
Tourist attractions in the park include a shipwreck visible from the South West Seal viewpoint, Huab lagoon, and a collapsed oil drilling rig.
