History
Pisba is located in the east of Boyacá. In this area, the Muisca people lived in the Altiplano Cundiboyacense and lived near the areas of the U'wa to the north and the Achagua to the east. The name "Pisba" comes from the Chibcha language and means "Honourable domain from before." When the Spanish arrived, it is said that the Muisca worked hard in agriculture, growing mainly maize, yuca, bananas, and mostly cotton. Pisba was ruled by the iraca of Sugamuxi.
Modern Pisba was founded on April 3, 1629.
