Danube-Ipoly National Park

The park was formed in 1997 by combining Pilis and Börzsöny national parks and adding part of the Ipoly River's floodplain. The park covers areas in Budapest, Pest County, Komárom-Esztergom County, and Fejér County, including some small Danube islands. The park has offices in Budapest and in the Jókai garden (Budapest XII).

Background

The park was formed in 1997 by combining Pilis and Börzsöny national parks and adding part of the Ipoly River's floodplain. The park has offices in Budapest and in the Jókai garden (Budapest XII). Its main office is in Esztergom. Some plants and animals live only in this park. There is a program to protect these rare and endangered species.
