Repovesi National Park (Finnish: Repoveden kansallispuisto) is located in the towns of Kouvola and Mäntyharju, a short drive northeast of the busy Helsinki area in southern Finland. The area used to be a place where many trees were cut down for business, but it has since become a protected natural area. Pine and birch trees are the main types of trees in the park. The park has many animals, such as bears, deer, and different kinds of birds. The River Koukunjoki runs through the park, and there are also other streams and lakes inside its borders.

Things to see in the park include Olhavanvuori hill, which is enjoyed by climbers, and the Kultareitti water taxi route. The park also has Kuutinlahti bay, which features old paths for floating logs that have been restored, the Lapinsalmi suspension bridge, and many observation towers.

The animals commonly found in the park include the red-throated diver, the Eurasian lynx, the moose, many types of owls, and several kinds of galliformes.

Lapinsalmi suspension bridge

The Lapinsalmi suspension bridge is an important access point and attraction for the park’s trails. However, the bridge has been closed since June 2025 because of safety and structural issues. It was rebuilt in 2019 after the previous bridge collapsed and became a well-known entrance to the park. Since early 2024, repairs have been planned, including adding wind bracing cables and strengthening the bridge’s structure after new safety evaluations. During the summer months, visitors can cross the Lapinsalmi strait using the Ketunlossi hand-operated ferry, which can carry up to eight people at a time. However, crowds may occur during busy periods.
