Victoria Falls National Park is located in north-western Zimbabwe. It protects the south and east sides of the Zambezi River near the famous Victoria Falls. The park stretches along the Zambezi River, starting about 6 kilometers above the falls and ending about 12 kilometers below them.

Nature

An important feature of the park is the rainforest that grows near the waterfalls. This area includes plants such as ferns, palms, liana vines, and trees like mahogany, which are not found in other parts of the region. The moist and shady environment also supports many types of fungi. These fungi are important for the ecosystem because they break down organic material and help plants stay healthy. The park is located in the Zambezian and mopane woodlands ecoregion.

Visitors can see animals such as elephants, Cape buffalo, southern white rhinoceros, hippos, giraffes, eland, and various antelope herds during drives and walking safaris. A group of crocodiles may be spotted in the river, and a nearby Crocodile Ranch provides a safer place to observe these animals.

Tourism

Tourists can stay in campsites inside Zambezi National Park or in many resorts and hotels in and near the town of Victoria Falls, which is on the western edge of the park. Visitors must take steps to avoid malaria.
